Terms of use

A respectful place to meet people starts with a few shared responsibilities.

Updated 17 September 2026

Matchfinder is operated by Matchfinder Pty Ltd, Australia. These terms explain how you may use Matchfinder. Read them alongside our Privacy and security policy. Creating an account means agreeing to these terms. If you have a question, contact support before joining.

Who can join

Matchfinder is for adults aged 30 and over, with a focus on Australians aged 35+ seeking genuine relationships. Give accurate birth details and use your own identity. Your public username can be different from your real name, but you must not impersonate another person. Keep your email address and profile information up to date.

Your account and profile

Keep your password private and do not share access to your account. Tell support if you suspect someone else has accessed it. Only upload photographs and other content that you own or have permission to use. Profile photographs should represent you accurately.

You retain ownership of your content. You allow Matchfinder to store, process and display it as needed to operate the service, including preparing photo sizes and showing approved profiles to eligible members. This permission does not make your private conversations public.

Respect other members

Do not harass, threaten, discriminate against, deceive or pressure anyone. Do not post unlawful, abusive or sexually explicit material, share someone else's private information, ask members for money, or use the service for scams, advertising or commercial solicitation. Respect a declined introduction and do not bypass a block by creating another account.

Do not put phone numbers, email addresses or other contact details in your public username or profile description. Initial introductions must follow the displayed length and contact-detail restrictions. Do not scrape profiles, collect member information, attempt unauthorised access or interfere with the website.

Verification, review and contact

Email verification, required profile details and approval apply before normal member discovery and contact. Profile and photo review helps us enforce our rules; it is not a criminal-record check, an identity guarantee or a promise that a person is safe. Use your own judgement when communicating or meeting.

Eligible members may send up to five introductions in a rolling seven-day period. A recipient chooses whether to accept; further conversation opens after acceptance. Compatibility, blocking and other safety restrictions still apply. We do not guarantee replies, dates, relationships or a particular number of suitable members.

Membership and payments

Full membership is free during our launch period. No card is required, and free access will not automatically become a paid subscription. If paid plans are introduced, their price, billing period and cancellation terms will be explained before you choose to pay. No payment begins without your agreement.

Nothing in these terms excludes rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable Australian Consumer Law guarantees. Any entitlement to a refund or other remedy will be assessed under the applicable law and the terms of the purchase.

Moderation and access restrictions

We may request changes, remove content or restrict an account when reasonably necessary to address a breach of these terms, suspected fraud, a safety concern or a legal requirement. Urgent safety action may occur before notice. Where appropriate, we will explain the decision; information about another member or an investigation may need to remain private. You can ask support to review a decision.

Leaving Matchfinder

You can stop using the service at any time. Contact support to request account closure or help with your information. We may need to verify that the account is yours. Our privacy policy explains that some records may need to be retained for safety, dispute handling or legal reasons.

Availability and responsibility

Maintenance, faults and third-party outages can interrupt access. We take reasonable steps to operate the service, but cannot promise uninterrupted availability or control what members do away from Matchfinder. You are responsible for your conduct and decisions. This does not limit any responsibility we have under laws that apply to us.

Changes and questions

We may update these terms as the service changes. The date above identifies this version. Material changes will be brought to members' attention before they take effect where practicable; changes to paid services will be explained separately. Australian law applies, including applicable Queensland law, without removing any mandatory rights you have.
