Your information. Your choices.
Privacy and security
Understand what you share, who can see it and how to ask for help.
Updated 17 September 2026
Matchfinder Pty Ltd, Australia operates Matchfinder and is responsible for the information described in this policy. You can contact us through the support form linked below.
Information we collect
When you register, we collect your email address, public username, password and birth month and year. We also collect the profile details, preferences, photographs, introductions, messages and support requests you choose to provide. Some profile information, such as who you want to meet, can reveal sensitive information about you. Only provide optional details you are comfortable sharing.
We record account activity needed to operate and protect the service, including verification, consent and moderation records, blocks, reports and notification preferences. Our hosting and security systems can record technical information such as IP addresses, browser details and request times. You can browse public information without an account; member features require the information needed for eligibility and account operation.
How we use information
We use this information to provide accounts and compatible member search, deliver conversations and service notifications, review profiles and photos, respond to support requests, investigate abuse and maintain the website. Information submitted to support is used to respond to the request and manage related account, safety or privacy issues. Providing an email address to support does not sign you up for marketing.
What other members can see
Public location pages do not display a member directory. Eligible signed-in members can see searchable profiles, including usernames, calculated ages, broad locations, approved photographs and the profile details you share. Birth month and year and your account email address are not displayed as public profile fields.
Messages are available to their conversation participants through the service. Authorised staff may access information where needed to provide support, moderate content or investigate a report. Do not include your address, contact details or other sensitive information in a public profile. Another person may retain information you share with them; a private member area cannot prevent screenshots.
Returning members
Eligible profiles carried over from the previous Matchfinder service may be discoverable inside the approved member area before their owners return. Returning owners use the secure account-return process to confirm access, review their information and accept the current conditions. Old passwords are not reused. Contact support if you want help correcting or removing a previous profile.
Cookies and service providers
We use cookies for sign-in sessions, request security and an optional remembered login. Disabling cookies may prevent these features from working. These cookies are not anonymous: a signed-in session is associated with your account.
Hosting, photo storage and transactional email providers process information needed to deliver those services. The rebuilt service uses Australian hosting and Amazon Web Services configured in Sydney for photo storage and email when enabled. A provider's support or other processing may involve overseas access; contact us for information about a particular service or concern. We may disclose information where required or authorised by law or to address a serious safety issue. Third-party websites have their own privacy practices.
Security and retention
We use HTTPS, password hashing, access-controlled member areas and private photo delivery. Support contact details and messages are encrypted in the application database. These measures reduce risk but cannot guarantee that a service is free from unauthorised access. We will never ask you to send your password or a sign-in or recovery code in a support message.
We keep information needed to operate accounts, handle requests and meet safety, dispute and legal obligations. Closing an account does not necessarily erase every record immediately: relevant investigation records and backup copies may remain. Ask support about a specific record or deletion request rather than assuming that leaving the site removes it.
Your requests and concerns
You can edit supported profile details from your account. For access to your information, corrections, account removal or a privacy complaint, use the support form and choose the privacy category. Explain what you need without sending identity documents or passwords. We may need to verify account ownership before disclosing information or making changes.
We will review your concern and contact you using the details you provide. If it remains unresolved, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner explains available privacy complaint options and whether it can consider your matter.
Safer conversations and meetings
- Keep early conversations on Matchfinder. Do not send money, cryptocurrency, gift cards or financial details to someone you meet online.
- Use a unique password and be cautious of unexpected links. Enter your credentials only on the genuine Matchfinder website.
- Use block and report if someone makes you uncomfortable. Profile approval is not proof of identity or a background check.
- For a first meeting, choose a public place, arrange your own transport and tell someone you trust where you are going.
- If there is immediate danger in Australia, call 000. The support form is not an emergency service.
Policy updates
We will update this page when our information-handling practices change. The date above identifies the current version. Material changes will be communicated where appropriate.
